Students interested in learning more about the pharmacy profession can attend the GattonRx Summer Camp at East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, an overnight camp on June 3-7.
Registration is $200. For students wanting to commute, there is a day camp option for $75. Scholarships are available for students who currently receive free or reduced school lunches or who need assistance.
The camp is open to rising high school juniors, seniors and college students. Other levels may be considered on an individual basis. Registration is limited; campers are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
Camp activities include the following:
– Learn about the pharmacy profession from faculty and local pharmacists
– Develop pharmacy skills
– Hear from student pharmacists about their experience
– Participate in admissions workshops
– Tour the pharmacy building and the adjacent Interprofessional Education and Research Center
– Grow in community with peers
All meals are included and will be at ETSU’s D.P. Culp Student Center Dining Hall. In the evening, students will enjoy a range of activities, including bowling, a movie night, mini-golf and more. Students will stay overnight on campus at Governors Hall.
“Campers will learn more about the pharmacy profession in a safe and fun environment at our overnight camp,” said Dr. Kathy Mueller, director of pharmacy admissions and assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. “There are so many professional opportunities in pharmacy and this overnight camp will give students the chance to learn about these opportunities and grow in community with their peers and our dedicated faculty, staff and student pharmacists.”
