Elizabethton City Schools has announced the building of a $3.75 million fieldhouse using a combination of school system and City of Elizabethton funds, and a substantial donation of $400,000 from Citizens Bank Tri-Cities Foundation Ltd. The cutting-edge athletic training facility, located on the campus of Elizabethton High School, will provide space for student-athletes to develop their skills and abilities, while promoting physical fitness across the entire student body. The 18,000-square-foot structure will include a new weight room, practice gymnasium, and 8,100 square feet of artificial turf. “We are proud to have the opportunity to participate in the construction of the athletic training facility named in memory of Dave Rider who was a great leader and made a positive impact on our community,” stated Citizens Bank Tri-Cities Foundation Chairman Joe LaPorte.

 “We are thrilled to celebrate the beginning of this project and what it will mean for our students. We appreciate our partnership with the City of Elizabethton and Citizens Bank Tri-Cities Foundation Ltd. and extend our deepest gratitude for their unwavering commitment to our students and community,” stated Richard VanHuss, Superintendent of Elizabethton City Schools. “Their continued support has been instrumental in promoting positive change in our programs and schools, which will benefit our students for years to come.”

 The groundbreaking ceremony to kick off the construction of the Dave Rider Center for Athletic Performance will take place on Thursday, May 23rd at 10:00 am on the school’s campus. The architect for the project is Thomas Weems and the construction manager for the project is Burleson Construction Company, Inc.
