National Trails Day celebrated June 1 in area state parks

National Trails Day will be celebrated in most Tennessee state parks June 1.
Roan Mountain State Park will have a one-mile hike to Raven Rock Overlook. The hike is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, and those participating are asked to meet at the park office.
Ranger Marco Rodriguez will lead the hike which will feature views of blooming buds and an overlook.
The hike is considered moderately challenging with some elevation changes. The hike will take approximately 1-1/2 to 2 hours to complete. Guests should bring plenty of water, appropriate hiking shoes, and dress for the weather.
A fee of $10 will be charged.
Also, there will be a trail hike at Sycamore Shoals State Park with Ranger Sarah Vogt as leader.
The hike will be at 10 a.m. and will follow the trail in the park, beginning at the picnic area.
Also, there will be a $10 donation for this hike.
Also, the Spring Knap-In at Sycamore Shoals State Park will be held Saturday, June 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Knapping is the art of making stone tools. Watch skilled craftspeople make arrow points, spear points and other early survival tools. There will also be demonstrations of bow and arrow and atlatl throughout the day.
