One of the holiday events during the upcoming July 4 celebration in Elizabethton will be the 2024 Miss Firecracker Pageant.

“The Miss Firecracker Pageant has been such a big success annually,” said the artistic director, Amy Simmons, who currently serves as the “World’s Classic Ms. Tourism/Miss Tourism Grand Supreme.” She added that the contest is a great way for citizens to show off their patriotic spirits.

During the contest, participants show off their patriotic best attire for the judges and crowd. “The Miss Firecracker Pageant truly is a family oriented, all-American event,” Simmons said. “This hometown Independence Day celebration pageant has grown each year. We love it when mothers and daughters and even grandmothers enter together.”

This annual pageant will offer open registration at the Covered Bridge stage from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Contestants will begin line up at 4:25 p.m., with start time at 4:30 p.m.

The entry fee is $15 and all contestants are required to dress their patriotic best.

“Anything goes,” added Simmons. “Casual, costume or formal – we encourage creativity, and most of all, having fun!”

Six queens will be crowned from the following age divisions: Birth to age 2, ages 3-5 years, 6-10 years, 11-15 years,16-20 years and ages 21 and up. Queens receive a patriotic rhinestone crown and sash.

All contestants receive a mini rhinestone tiara for their patriotic participation, Simmons said. Contact her before the event to ensure your contestant can be added to the age group and the petite rhinestone tiara reserved.

Reach out to Simmons at 540-392-9138 by text or call with your email address to receive an entry. Contestants may register as well on the day of the event.

If there is inclement weather, the event will be held at the Elizabethton Parks and Rec gym.
