A search operation recovered human remains on Saturday.
According to Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Shawn Brown, the remains were recovered in the Butler Community of Johnson County.
“The remains have been sent to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center in Johnson Coty for identification and a forensic examination,” Chief Deputy Brown said.
Saturday’s search was a joint operation by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the Carter County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Other agencies, including the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center and the Carter County Emergency and Rescue Squad assisted in the search operation.
“I would like to thank all the agencies who assisted us in this search,” Carter County Sheriff Mike Fraley said. “The investigation is ongoing at this time, and we will release additional information as we are able.”
