Missing woman found in Roan Mountain

A Roan Mountain woman who was the subject of a missing persons search has been found according to Carter County Sheriff Chris Mathes.

Linda Hopson, of 212 Buck Creek Road, Roan Mountain, was located by rescue workers at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at the W. H. Buck Cemetery in Roan Mountain. Mathes said she was treated on the scene by members of the Carter County Rescue Squad and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Hopson was reported missing on Friday afternoon after 4 p.m. by her family, who said she had last been seen at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Friday when she told her husband she was going out for a walk.

Mathes credited the men and women of the Carter County Rescue Squad,the Carter County Sheriff’s Department and the citizens of Roan Mountain for doing an excellent job with this search.

“These cases don’t always end well, but a special thanks up above that this one did,” he said.
