Myra Haley Henson

Myra Haley Henson, 83, of Johnson City, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center.
She was born in Carter County to the late John and Verdia Hodge Hammitt.
Mrs. Henson was a homemaker and a member of East River Park Christian Church. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dayton Henson, April 30, 2003; a brother, Gene Hammitt; a sister, Helen Clark; a son-in-law, Billy Polly; and her special friends, Sam and Jean Ellis.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Kay Polly, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, David Frank and Lillie Claudette Henson, Elizabethton; her grandchildren, Anthony Henson, Nathaniel Henson, Carrie Henson Brown and husband Charles, Kimerly Polly Martin and husband Chris and Carla Polly Kress and husband Brian; her great-grandchildren, Liam Straits, Elijah Martin, Micah Martin, Serena Henson, Dorian Carry, Myra Almond and Darius Kress; a step-great-grandson, Adain; a sister, Linda Russell and husband David, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Dorothy and Paul Gouge and Joy and Billy Buckles.
Funeral services for Myra Haley Henson will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Tim Ross, minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Anthony Henson, Nathaniel Henson, Chris Martin, Brian Kress, Adam Russell and David Russell. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of the 6500 Wing of Johnson City Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
