Harry “Lynn” Greenwell

Harry “Lynn” Greenwell, 62, of Elizabethton, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2014, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness.
He was the son of the late Albert and Grace Carrier Greenwell and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Johnnie Greenwell, and a step-granddaughter, Sierra Dawn Waycaster.
Mr. Greenwell was a retired greenhouse operator and also had worked for Watauga Industries for over 20 years. He was an active member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church and he loved to garden and cook.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann McKeehan Greenwell, of the home; a son, Neil Greenwell, Elizabethton; a daughter, Shana Brower, Elizabethton; three sisters, Vivian Hardin, Lynchville, Ohio, Vickie Richardson, Elizabethton, and Kathy Dinsmore, Kingsport; two brothers, Rev. Dale Greenwell of Kentucky, and Dennis Greenwell, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two beloved step-daughters, Susan Whitehead, Johnson City, and Amy Jones and her husband, Tom, Elizabethton; a step-grandson, Hunter Jones; two grandchildren, Donovan Brower and Mayson Brower, both of Elizabethton; his best friends, Joe Carrier and Jim Bowers, both of Elizabethton; his close friend, Olen Pate, Elizabethton; and his best buddy, his dog, Jack. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mr. Greenwell was conducted on Monday, October 6, at 7 p.m. at Lynn Valley Baptist Church, 1367 Broad Street, Elizabethton, with Rev. Dennis Wilson and Rev. Frank Osborne officiating. The family received friends at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Friends may also call at the home at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at noon Tuesday, October 7, in the Hyder Cemetery on Jim Elliott Road. Active pallbearers will be Frank Eades, Doug McCloud, Joseph Carrier, Jim Bowers, Joe Carrier, John Hayes, Paul Bellamy and Eddie Reece. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Lynn Valley Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Johnson City Medical Center Hospital ICU, and special nurses, Earl and Tyler, for all the love and care shown to Mr. Greenwell and his family during his illness.
