Rev. Robert “Bob” Davis

Rev. Robert “Bob” Davis, 65, 170 Spice Hollow Road, Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, October 13, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and was a son of the late Charlie and Lois Murr Davis.
Rev. Davis was retired from the Johnson City Medical Center where he had worked in Engineering. He was a Freewill Baptist minister, having served as pastor for Hopson Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Roan Mountain and Rich Acres Freewill Baptist Church in Johnson City.
Rev. Davis was a member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Johnson City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Miller Davis; a daughter, Sheri Wright of Jonesborough; a son, Brian R. Davis of Johnson City; a sister, Shirley Rogers, and a brother, Jerry Davis and wife, Rose, all of Jonesborough; six grandchildren, Matthew and Justin Hensley, Mason Wright, Stephanie, Jason and Arron Davis; a special friend, Robin Whitehead; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services for Rev. Davis will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, at the Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church, Lakeview Drive, Johnson City, with Rev. Paul Crowe and Rev. Howard Ray officiating. Special music will be provided by Gary Gilley. The family will receive friends at the church from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 16, in the Huffine Cemetery off Lone Oak Road in Johnson City. Active pallbearers will be Billy Lewis, Wes Willis, Donnie Roberts, Rick Blankenship, David Goode, Rob Mills, Teddy Tipton, Felix Hutchenson and Bill Ward. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church by 10:30 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
