Sessions Court will be held on Election Day and Veterans Day

Although county offices will be closed two days in November, General Sessions Court will go on.
County offices will be closed Nov. 4 due to the election, and Nov. 11 for the Veterans Day holiday. On holidays and other occasions when county offices are closed the court system is traditionally closed as well.
Despite the scheduled closings, General Sessions Court Judge Keith Bowers Jr. said he will hold court on those days.
Bowers said court cases had been inadvertently scheduled for those two days months ago.
Rather than attempt to reschedule all the cases on the dockets for those two days, Bowers said he will hear those cases as scheduled.
One of the reasons behind his decision, Bowers said, was the possible inconvenience which rescheduling would cause for the individuals on the docket. “They may have already requested off from work,” Bowers said, adding he didn’t think those individuals should be punished for an oversight in scheduling by the court.
