Rhea Riggs Baker

Rhea Riggs Baker, 96, Johnson City, entered into rest, Monday, October 20, 2014, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Baker was a native of Carter County and a resident of Washington County. She was a daughter of the late Samuel Jordan and Mattie Grimsley Riggs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert Craig Baker; two sisters, Mamie and Beryl Mottern; and a nephew, L.J. Mottern.
Mrs. Baker was a retired Laboratory Tech with Bemberg. She was a Baptist and a former Sunday School teacher.
Mrs. Baker leaves to cherish her memory, nephews, Stanley Mottern and his wife, Jewell, Johnson City, and Doug Baker and his wife, Vivian; niece, Connie Blevins; great-nieces, Julia Slagle and her husband, Bill, and Kristy Carr and her husband, Randall; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and greet guests from noon until a Celebration of Life Service at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 23, at Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services, Johnson City. Entombment services will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Jordan officiating. Active pallbearers will be Doug Baker, Randall Carr, Jared Cline, Ken Crapps, Bill Slagle and Isaac Slagle. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Carr and Ethan Cline. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation, Northeast TN Chapter, 2007 North Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37604.
