Lillie Mae Arnett Ellis, 81, of Roan Mountain, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015, at Roan Highlands Nursing Center.
Mrs. Ellis was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Andy and Alma Banner Arnett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Ellis, in 2011, and a brother, Tivis Arnett.
Mrs. Arnett was retired as a Licensed Practical Nurse and was a very active member of Roan Mountain First Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and being with her grandchildren.
Survivors include five children, John Ellis, Mike Ellis, Lynn Ellis and wife Melissa and Susie Simerly and husband Mike, all of Roan Mountain, and Sandra Jarrett and husband Ronnie, Jonesborough; six grandchildren, John Ellis Jr. and wife Nita, Jessica Jarrett, Matt Jarrett, Allison Simerly, Austin Simerly and Lisa Ellis; four sisters, Pauline Barnett and husband Donald, Jonesborough, Mary Lou Brewer, Elizabethton, Grace Cobb and husband Robert, Calumet City, Ill., and Thelma Mullins and husband Larry, Valparaiso, Ind.; and five brothers, Earnest Ray Arnett and wife Myrna, Hampton, Jack Arnett and wife Delores, Elizabethton, James Arnett and wife Carol, Thomasville, N.C., Charlie Arnett and wife Joyce, Roan Mountain, and Donald Arnett and wife Becky, Roan Mountain.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Lillie Mae Arnett Ellis will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, in the chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Richard Stout officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jo Nell Young and Karen Buchanan. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 29, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be nephews and grandsons. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Roan Highlands Nursing Center for all the love and care given to Mrs. Ellis during her illness.
