Getting back to an everyday routine may be just what the doctor ordered for the Elizabethton Cyclones.

Picking up their second consecutive win in two days, the Elizabethton Cyclones turned a close first period into a blowout as the Cyclones pulled away down the stretch for a 65-35 win over Sullivan North inside John Treadway Gym.

“Just getting another conference win is huge,” said Cyclone head coach Lucas Honeycutt. “Just seeing them build on what they did last night. We wanted to rest Bo (Pless) a little more because we have South on Friday.

“It was close at times last game and they are a scrappy bunch. They are playing a little better right now,” added Honeycutt. “Our team chemistry is a whole lot better now, and the kids seem to have the right mind set.”

North (0-7, 2-13) tried to stay in the game in the opening period playing the Cyclones to a 13-11 quarter led by Peyton Robinson’s two treys.

Elizabethton (5-2, 11-9) would respond quickly to seize the advantage and never looked back going on an 11-0 run to start the second period behind Michael Robinson’s six points.

The 26-18 halftime advantage for the Cyclones was all that was needed as Elizabethton outscored North 39-17 in the second half to notch the all-important Three Rivers Conference win.

Robinson blistered the nets for 24 points to lead all scorers in the contest. Hayden Townsend backed up a solid effort from Monday with another double-digit scoring performance with 11 points.

Another key for the Cyclones was the play of Teve Mushayamunda who netted eight points but was flying like superman all over the floor after loose balls and getting some easy looks at the bucket.

“I thought he was big just catching the ball there in the middle and dishing to other people,” said Honeycutt on the play of Mushayamunda. “He got some easy looks early, and he is a smart player that seems to get everybody going.”

Adam Cornett added seven points for Elizabethton.

Robinson led all Raiders with 13 points in the game while Zack Byrns totaled nine in a losing cause.
