It may have been only the third game of the young season for the T.A. Dugger Jr. Lady Cyclone basketball team, but the team continued to gain strength taking their third non-conference win in a row with a 38-15 triumph over the host Happy Valley Jr. Lady Warriors.

Both teams played toe to toe in the first half before the Jr. Lady Cyclones threw on a stifling full-court press that the Jr. Lady Warriors just couldn’t handle with several turnovers resulting from the press leading to transition buckets on the TAD end of the court.

Renna Lane had the hot hand for the Jr. Lady Cyclones dumping in 13 points to lead all scorers in the contest.

Lina Lyons also had a big night registering 11 points including three deep treys to join Lane in double figures. While having a big night scoring, Lyons was probably most impressive handling the basketball and dishing off to open teammates.

Kenidy Harris added three points as well for TAD.

Even though the Jr. Lady Warriors struggled offensively, Kadie Bailey managed to work her way to a double-digit night tallying 10 points for her Happy Valley squad.

Alexis McNally and Marcida Thompson chipped in with two points apiece while Keili Hall added one point.

“As a team we thrive on defensive pressure because we want to set the tone,” said Jr. Lady Cyclone head coach Matt Fox. “We knew coming in here this was a rivalry.

“That’s a good team right there we played tonight. We are 3-0 right now in non-conference and we have a lot of things right now to polish, but I am glad the girls came together tonight.”
