Ida Lue Newby, 87, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 12, 2020. She was a wonderful Mom, Nanny to many, Aunt, Sister, Daughter.
Ida was born in Tennessee, but she resided in Zephyrhills, Fla. She was born October 9, 1932, to the late Frank and Genevieve Brewer Holtsclaw in Carter County.
Ida was a lifetime bookkeeper. She retired from Publix after 13 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph H. Newby; two sisters, Naomi Holtsclaw Hembree and Ruth Marie; and a brother, L.D. Holtsclaw.
She is survived by two sons, David R. Newby and Patrick J. Stephens of Zephyrhills, Fla., who cared for her in her later years, and two daughters, Jackie L. Manescala of Tampa, Fla., and Christa J. Huntley of Zephyrhills, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two nieces, one nephew and countless extended family and friends.
Those who knew Ida were greeted with a smile that was contagious and she always welcomed everyone into her home, offering them the best tasting food. She will be forever missed. We love you Mom/Nanny!
A service will be held at noon on Tuesday, September 22, at Tetrick Funeral Home (Rhododendron Chapel), 8460 Highway 19 East, Roan Mountain, TN 37687. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 10 a.m. until noon Tuesday, prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Holtsclaw Family Cemetery in Sugar Hollow, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Carter County is mandating that all citizens who live in or visit the county wear masks. In keeping in accordance with this mandate, all visitors to the funeral service/graveside service are required to wear a mask and/or facial covering.
