UNICOI — The Town of Unicoi will host a grand opening and dedication ceremony Monday, Oct. 19, at 4 p.m. for the recently named Doug Hopson Buffalo Pavilion, located at the Tourist Information Center, 106 Unicoi Village Place.
“Vice Mayor Hopson has really dedicated his life to this community,” said Town of Unicoi Mayor Johnny Lynch. “He’s worked tirelessly for more than 15 years to serve the town and its citizens and I can’t think of anyone who deserves this honor more. ”
Doug Hopson served 16 years as an alderman and vice mayor for the Town of Unicoi. He announced last month that he would not seek re-election in November, citing health issues and the need to spend time with his family.
“I’m honored to be recognized,” said Vice Mayor Hopson. “And even though we’ve already had a few events at the pavilion, I can’t wait to officially cut that ribbon and ensure the residents have a place to gather and celebrate for years to come.”
