MEMPHIS (AP) — Authorities are investigating whether an assistant state prosecutor in Tennessee’s largest county misused confidential information.
Shelby County district attorney Amy Weirich has asked the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to look into allegations of misconduct against Glenda Adams.
No charges have been filed and no arrests have been made. Details on the allegations weren’t immediately released by the district attorney’s office or the TBI.
The Associated Press could not immediately locate a working phone number for Adams and she could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
TBI spokeswoman Keli McAlister said Weirich has recused herself from the case and Bryant Dunaway, the district attorney in an eastern Tennessee district, has been appointed.
Adams was fired last week, Weirich said in a statement.
The Commercial Appeal reported that Adams worked for the Shelby County public defender before moving to the district attorney’s office in 2009.
Shelby is Tennessee’s largest county by population.
