“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” II Timothy 4:7-8
James “PeeWee” Shannon Carpenter, 47, of Elizabethton, Tenn., beloved Son, Papaw and Brother, has, like an eagle, spread his wings and taken his flight! He had come to know the Lord and prayed for people daily. Born on September 7, 1973, he was the son of Betty Ingram, of Elizabethton, and the late Cecil Carpenter. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Leona Ward and Earl and Alice Carpenter, and his faithful companion, “Jazz”.
James was a carpenter by trade, helping to build houses and cabins. He attended Moore’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, before his sickness would not allow him to attend.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Betty Ward Ingram, of the home; two sons, Christopher Carpenter and Willie Carpenter, both of Elizabethton; a daughter, Lexie Carpenter of Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Aubrey Carpenter of Elizabethton; a grandson, Carson Carpenter, also of Elizabethton; four brothers, Roy Canter of Butler, Ronnie Carpenter, Leslie Carpenter and Michael Ingram, all of Elizabethton; and three sisters, Sharon Burchette of Elizabethton, Lisa Simerly of Roan Mountain and Karen Ingram of Jonesborough.
