To the Editor:
The Knoxville News Sentinel seems to — like the Washington Post — have all the answers. As a witness for fame and shame, I am convinced that Vince Lombardi could not win the lions den.
A favorite son, Johnny Majors, was hosed, while Coach Fulmer was given the shaft. Men of stature became champions and left goats.
But the most mind-blowing thing happened on the way to the showers. A humbled UT official coaxed Fulmer to return to the scene of the crime. Suddenly, the “second coming” took on an entirely new meaning.
In hindsight, maybe the grandchildren were a better option.
