Parker Henry knew he was probably going to head to Milligan University for his post-secondary education, but when the chance came up to play baseball for the Buffs it didn’t take long for the Hampton graduate to grab a pen and ink his National Letter of Intent to play at the collegiate level.

Before a large gathering of family, friends, church family, and teammates, Henry signed in the Hampton Library joined by his parents and sister.

“I wanted to play baseball because I have played baseball all my life,” Henry said after signing. “Coach Perkins got in touch with Coach Barnett for me and I decided that was what I wanted to do.

“It’s really exciting to be able to go to a local school. I didn’t want to go to far from home so that’s huge for me.”

Henry gave his high school head coach Nicholas Perkins a lot of praise for helping him to prepare for the next level along with all his teammates.

“Everything he does is about college because he tries to run the high school program just like a collegiate program,” Henry commented. “That was his main goal coming in was that he wanted every one of us ready.”

Coach Perkins said that Milligan University is not only getting a quality baseball player but an outstanding young man.

“Parker had a solid high school career and had a very good senior year and is worthy of this opportunity as a baseball player focusing solely on baseball as he was a three-sport athlete here at Hampton,” Coach Perkins said.

“More importantly, aside from baseball, Parker Henry is a quality human being who comes from an amazing family. Milligan University is getting a first-class young man and I am just happy for him.”

Henry said he is looking to study exercise science and possibly go into physical therapy after graduating from college.
