Betty Clara Jeana Cain, “Clara Puckett”, 60, Elizabethton, died peacefully in her home on Sunday, August 15, 2021. She was born in Banner Elk, N.C., but lived her life in Elizabethton, Tenn.
As the youngest of seven children, she attended Elizabethton City Schools. She had a love of the outdoors and spent much of her time gardening, camping, fishing, enjoying the lake, and hosting gatherings. She enjoyed music and could often be found singing karaoke and dancing with friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Ellen Puckett of Elizabethton, Tenn.; father, Erby James Roberts of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; brother and wife, Paul and Sally Puckett of Salisbury, N.C.; sister, Wilma Scalf of Elizabethton, Tenn.; brother, Earl “Waits” Puckett of Elizabethton, Tenn.; and brother and wife, Roger “Boney” and Mary Tolley of Elizabethton, Tenn.
Survivors include her fiancé, Gary McGuire of Elizabethton, Tenn.; daughter and husband, April and David Auton of Sugar Grove, N.C.; son, Alvin Bennett of Elizabethton, Tenn.; daughter and husband, Brandi and Tony Wilson of Gray, Tenn.; grandchildren, Eli Bennett, Rylan Bennett, Payten Parlier, Mason Bennett, Berkley Wilson and Bennett Wilson; siblings, brother and wife, Doyle and Cindy Puckett of Watauga, Tenn., brother and wife, Howard and Jackie Puckett of Watauga, Tenn., sister, April Barnett of Elizabethton, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews with special niece, Jessica Puckett, along with numerous other family and friends that she loved deeply.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 21, at Memorial Funeral Chapel. Following the service a reception for family and friends will be held at the VFW in Elizabethton at 12:30 p.m. Condolences can be sent to the family at our website, www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
