The annual Covered Bridge Days Celebration in Downtown Elizabethton is always a fun filled time with vendors and attractions for all to enjoy.

This year is no different for the celebration, as the usual food trucks, vendors, and live music will be there. One other attraction that is sure to draw a crowd during this year’s celebration is the Elizabethton Children’s Business Fair taking place on the last day of the weekend festival, Sunday, Sept. 26, from 1-4 p.m.

The event is open to all entrepreneurs between the ages of seven and 18, and gives those who sign up a chance to develop a brand, create a product or service, build a marketing strategy, and finally open up for business during the event on September 26.

There will be prizes in several different categories for those who compete in the Children’s Business Fair, including categories such as the most original business idea, the highest business potential, and the best presentation/creativity. Awards will be announced after the event on Sunday at 5 p.m. and will take place on the main stage.

While the event is open for those ages 7-18, there will be three different age groups for the business fair, those being ages 7-10, 11-13, and 15-18.

Participation for those who would like to take part in the Elizabethton Children’s Business Fair is free, however booths must be accepted to take part in the event.

For those interested in taking part, email kkitchens@cityofelizabethton.org or call (423) 547-3008 for an application. Once an application is received, fill it out and either mail or email back.

The number of spaces permitted for the Children’s Business Fair is limited, and there will be a limit on the number of businesses allowed in specific categories so there are not too many similar businesses. This week is also the final week for submissions to take part in the fair to be accepted.

With this being said, returning applications to take part in this event as quickly as possible is encouraged, and businesses that require generators or electricity will not be allowed to participate.
