Hampton completes sweep in boy’s and girl’s prep golf

With temperatures cooling from being in the 90s lately, four boy’s high school golf teams took to the links at Elizabethton Golf Course while there were three girls teams that also participated.

In boy’s play in the TSSAA event, the Hampton boys stood tall when all the scores were tallied at the end of the day. The Bulldogs finished the nine-hole round with a 175 and were followed by Providence with a 212.

Happy Valley (222) and Unaka (226) closed out the day.

Hampton was paced by boys medalist Avery Hill who came into the clubhouse with a 40 on the day. R.J. Tolley and Caleb Royston shot identical 43s with Jonah Gable making up the four-man team total of 175.

Jude Hickman finished with a 50 for the ‘Dogs.

Providence finished second behind Hampton led by a 49 from Tyler Zepeda. Edwin Pryputniewicz (50), Justin Ringley (56), and Caleb Caldwell (57) helped to account for Providence’s team total.

Drew Ballard and Matt Taylor finished with a 59 and 60 respectively for Providence.

Cole Deakins paced the young Happy Valley team as the Warrior shot a nine-hole total of 50. Happy Valley’s team total was made up of Jaryn Gouge (52), Mylon McCool (58), and Nick Bailey (62).

Mason Wilson led the Ranger linksters on the afternoon by carding a round of 49. The Rangers also received a 52 from Gavin Seigfried while teammates Casey Wiggins (62) and Sam Lewis (63) completed the team scorecard for the boys from Stoney Creek.

On the girls’ side, Hampton made it a clean sweep as the Lady Bulldogs were the top team on the afternoon as Rylue McClain’s 46 was good enough for medalist honors as well as combining with a 53 from Macy Henry to win the match.

Sadie Shoun and Sarah Blevins helped to put the Lady Rangers in second place on the afternoon as Shoun recorded a 48 and Blevins a 55. Grace Agan (61) and Laikyn Stevens (62) also took to the links for Unaka.

Finally, the Lady Warriors finished in third place as Happy Valley’s Cayden Anderson led her squad with a 53 on the day. Grace Hollifield logged a 56 while Hannah Monroe completed her round with a 59.
