JOHNSON CITY – The University High Lady Bucs couldn’t get a muzzle on the Hampton Lady Bulldogs Tuesday evening at Brooks Gym on the campus of ETSU and they paid dearly as a result.
Hampton broke free for 48 first-half points and held University High to only seven as 12 Lady ‘Dogs hit the scoring column in a lopsided 58-20 victory over the host Lady Bucs.
Linsey Jenkins dropped in 10 points in the opening half while Piper Helle and Taylor Berry chipped in with eight points apiece as Coach Brandon Carpenter’s Lady ‘Dogs took advantage of a pressuring defense to force numerous turnovers that resulted in points on the other end.
Madi McClain contributed with seven points in the first half to go along with six each from Macy Henry and Bre Davis,
Anna Wells had all three of her points in the opening half to pace U-H. Kathryn Joyner, Lemy Ortiz, and Catre Leonard added two each for the Lady Bucs in the first half.
With the game well in hand, Carpenter went deep in his bench in the second half giving his team an opportunity to gain experience in a varsity contest.
Jenkins 10 points led the Lady ‘Dogs on the night with Helle, Madi McClain, and Taylor Berry each dropping in eight points.
Ortiz and Priya Lewis led the Lady Bucs with four points apiece.
