Visitors report auto break-in at Wilbur Dam recreation site

Two visitors to Wilbur Dam reported to the Carter County Sheriff’s Department their car was broken into while visiting the recreation site.
Tracy and Jack Irvin of Bristol said they parked their Ford Explorer in the upper parking lot near boat ramp Thursday afternoon at around 2:45 p.m.
When they returned at 7 p.m., they discovered the left rear vent window had been broken out and that several items were missing. The incident report noted it appeared the window had been broken by a prying device, and there were pry marks and damage to the rear hatch area.
Items that were missing from the vehicle included a navy blue Nike bag that contained three shirts valued at $80; two cargo shorts valued at $60 and two baseball hats valued at $30. A ladies sterling silver cigar band ring valued $45 was missing from the console as well as a pair of Serengeti sunglasses valued at $180.
