John Holsclaw tops Veeneman to capture 4th District House seat

In the race for the state representative seat vacated by Kent Williams, local businessman, John Holsclaw won the seat by a wide margin.
The Tennessee House of Representatives 4th District encompasses a portion of Carter County as well as a portion of Unicoi County. In Unicoi County, Holtsclaw defeated opponent Judy Veeneman -Williams’ sister – by a margin of 62 percent to 38 percent.
In Carter County, Holsclaw carried 65.6 percent of the vote, with 5,835 votes cast for him. Veeneman carried 34.17 percent with 3,039 votes.
“We are just elated here,” Holsclaw said from his election night celebration at Medical Care in Elizabethton. “Judy and I ran a clean race; we didn’t dog each other.”
“She called to congratulate me and wish me the best,” he added.
