Lucille Bennett

Lucille Bennett, 67, of Hampton, a loving mother and caring grandmother, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Mirl Roberts Bennett. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a son, James “Joe” Bennett.
Ms. Bennett was a homemaker and loved growing flowers. She especially loved her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Janice Bennett Gentry and husband Johnnie, Hampton; three granddaughters, Alecia Irick and husband Cody, Bluff City, Adrian Stevens and fiancé, Trent Remme, Johnson City, and Chloe Gentry, of the home; three sisters, Ann Grant, Gastonia, N.C., Judy Bennett and Cathy Beam, both of Elizabethton; three other sisters and one brother; two nieces, Carla Poole and Phyllis Self; and two nephews, Richard Beam and Thomas Beam. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Ms. Bennett will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with the Rev. Junior McKinney officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday, or at the residence of her daughter, Janice Gentry, 132 Carver Crabtree Road, Hampton, at anytime. The graveside service will follow in the McKinney Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Leroy Bennett, Lester Bennett, and Vestal Bennett, Trent Remme, Richard Dean and Cody Irick. Honorary pallbearers will be Arnold Willis, Gary Campbell and her friends and neighbors of the Browns Branch Community. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pine Ridge Care Center for the love and care given to Ms. Bennett during her illness.
