Milligan College art students are getting the opportunity to have their work critiqued at the schools annual Juried Art Exhibition, which runs through Friday May 2.
Mary Barton Nees, an adjunct member of the art and design faculty at East Tennessee State University, is the juror.
The exhibit showcases the top Milligan student art, photography, sculpture and digital media projects. Awards of excellence and merit will be given to standout pieces.
Nees, trained at Cornell University, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Barnes Foundation before earning her master of fine arts in printmaking from ETSU, works with various media such as monotypes with mixed media, gestural landscapes using Chinese inks, watercolor or cold wax.
“I consider art as language, a response to what we are handling right in front of us,” said Nees.
The Exhibition will be on display in the Milligan Art Gallery, located in the lower level of Derthick Hall. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
