Irene Rominger

Irene Rominger, age 80, of Greeneville, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, in the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Rominger was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Montie O. and Pauline Dempsey White.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step mother, Kate Estep White, who raised her after the death of her mother; two brothers, William and James White; and a brother-in-law, Joe Rominger.
Mrs. Rominger was a former telephone operator for United InterMountain Telephone Company and Bell System in South Bend, Indiana, and was a full time homemaker in her later years.
She enjoyed cooking, making crafts and doing good for others.
She was a member of First Christian Church of Greeneville, where she was a member of Bond Between Us Class and the Rebecca Circle.She sang in the church choir for 30 years under the director, Gene Proffitt.
Mrs. Rominger is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 54 years, Stuart Rominger of the home; two sons, Boyce Rominger and wife, Kim, Greeneville, and Byron Rominger and wife, Christy, Columbia, SC; four grandchildren, Brooke Rominger and Kelly Dobson both of Greeneville, Justin Rominger and wife, Janine, and Parker Rominger of Columbia, SC; one great grandson, Lane Wilburn; one brother, George Evans White, Sr. of Elizabethton; sisters-in-law, Oma Faye Oliver and her husband, Gayle, Emma Pierce, and Dorothy Wilson; brother-in-law, John Rominger; aunts, Blonnie Estep and Billie Dean Long; aunts and uncles, Ruth Brown and husband, Herbert, Bristol, TN, and Mary Lou Hajducsek and husband, Ray.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Rominger will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. Andrew Church, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Donna Ellis, Jeff McNabb, Richard Thomason, and Tony Rominger. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service Friday.
The graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m.Saturday, May 10, 2014, in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Boyce Rominger, Byron Rominger, Justin Rominger, Parker Rominger, Steve Pierce, Lauren Pierce, Noel Church, and Gary Kemp. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Thomas Bechner, Dr. Luke Ellenburg, Dr. Craig Shepherd, Dr. Melissa Gaffney, George White, Jr., Tommy Rominger, Mike Pierce, Gayle Oliver, Clyde Ketterman, Sam Ellis, Bob Campbell, Roy Alford, members of First Christian Church and Bond Betweeen Us Class, Mr. Charles Reece, Minister, Mr. Richard Thomason, Minister, Mr. Jeff McNabb, Minister, members of Blue Springs Christian Church, Charles Mysinger, Gary Brown, Grant Crum, and a special friend, Cecil Burgner. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. Saturday to go in procession.
