Mamie Crowe Davenport, Johnson City, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, April 29, 2014.
She was born Aug. 29, 1918, in Carter County to the late Oscar and Josie Phine Barnett Crowe. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Davenport; two sisters, Eleanor Crowe Campbell and Hattie Crowe Estep; two brothers, Roy Crowe and Robert “Rob” Crowe; one son-in-law, Roy Ingram; and a special friend, Charlotte Hartley of Lenoir, N.C.
She is survived by four daughters: Jean Ingram, Brenda (Charles) Holdren and Bobbie (Robert “Bob”) Bullock, all of Elizabethton; and Tina (Thorson) Tolbert of Granite Falls, N.C.
Her grandchildren are: Sherry Awad of Columbia, Tenn.; Sandy Lewis of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; Rick Holdren of Ladson, S.C.; Tim Holdren of Johnson City; Robin Johnson of Taylorsville, N.C.; Jeffery White of Asheville, N.C.; Wesley White of Gate City, Va.; Christina Davenport of Florida; and Tangie Davenport of Florida.
She was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandson; a very dear friend, Effie Holder of Elizabethton; and a very special caregiver Sherri Turbyfield.
Funeral service will be conducted by Mr. David Siebenaler on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at 3 p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Chapel, with receiving of friends from 2 to 3 p.m., burial will follow the service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Jerry Barnett. Active pallbearers will be: Rick Holdren, Tim Holdren, Wes White, Jeff White, Kevin Johnson, Chris Lewis and Spencer Clay. Honorary pallbearers will be: Robert Bullock, Thornson Tolbert and Charles Holdren. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Paul Brown, her very special friend and caregiver, Sherri Turbyfield and Mountain States Hospice for the excellent care she received..
