Mitchell Rhinehart, 42, Roan Mountain, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a Carter County native. Mitchell was a 1990 graduate of Cloudland High School. He was employed with his father and brother in the operation of the Rhinehart Carpet Service. Mitchell attended Harmony Free Will Baptist Church. He was an avid motorcycle fan. He was a member of Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge 566. He was preceded in death by a brother: Donald Rhinehart Sr.; his maternal grandfather, Harless Largent; and his paternal grandparents, Don Rhinehart and Ruby Gourley.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Hodge Rhinehart; one daughter, Brittany Rhinehart, Roan Mountain; his parents, Dennis and Lucille Largent Rhinehart, Roan Mountain; a sister, Melissa Rhinehart Grindstaff and her husband Wayne, Elizabethton; one grandson, Bryson Johnson, Roan Mountain; one brother, Dennis Rhinehart Jr. and his special friend, Jacob Dingler; his maternal grandmother, Rose Largent, Roan Mountain; four stepsons: Jeffrey, Punky, Walt and Thomas; his special nieces, Marissa Rhinehart and Katie Markland; and several nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brandon Young and Rev. Danny Blevins officiating. Graveside service and tnterment will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Largent Cemetery. Active pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Thursday will be: Melissa Grindstaff, Floyd Odom, Robert Reed, Joe Jackson, Jeffrey Rhinehart, Punky Rhinehart, Walt Rhinehart, Thomas Rhinehart and Lester Tolley. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Mountain States Hospice, the staff of the 4200 Wing, Johnson City Medical Center, and all his special friends. Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge 566 will conduct a Memorial Service following the funeral service. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at his residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery.
