Celmer Jean Taylor

Celmer Jean Taylor, 64, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, surrounded by her family and friends, Tuesday, May 13, 2014, in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Selmer “Skip” and Ethel Richardson Taylor. She had lived a number of years in West Palm Beach, Fla., where she graduated from the John I. Leonard High School. She moved back to Elizabethton 30 years ago. She retired from Winn-Dixie in Florida and retired from Snap-On-Tools in Elizabethton. In Florida, Celmer was involved with the EMS. She was a member of the Buladean Citizens Club and was very active in the Cancer Society. She was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include her son, David Taylor and his fiancé Linda; a brother, Davie Ray Taylor and his wife: Sandra, Lake Worth, Fla.; a sister, Freddie Berry; a nephew, Scooter Berry and wife Karen; her nieces, Kara Branchini, Jennifer Boyd, Merissa Ray Taylor, Shandra Taylor and Samantha Ray Taylor; several great nieces; her special uncle, Herman Richardson and his wife Erma, Elizabethton; and her special friends, Dee Dee Campli and Kay Graham Moody.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ricky Potter officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at noon Friday, May 16, 2014, in the Taylor Cemetery. Active pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 11:15 a.m. Friday will be: Gary Shelton, James “Tank” Morrell, Vern Williams, Mike Richardson, James Sherrill and Ricky Berry. Honorary pallbearers will be: Kem Richardson, William Berry, Scooter Berry, Mickey Taylor and Kirby Taylor. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Judy Deloach and the staff at Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the excellent care she received and to the co-workers at Snap-On-Tools, Elizabethton. Instead of flowers donations may be made to the Taylor Cemtery in Taylor Hollow or the American Cancer Society c/o Lou Cooter, 415 Washington Ave., Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 11:15 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
