Mrs. Rita Faye B. Holtsclaw, 74, of Hampton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, May 19, 2014, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
She was born in Elizabethton, Tenn., to the late Thomas R. and Birdie Barnett Bradshaw. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte White, and her husband, Lewis, and a brother-in-law, Howell Rasnick.
Mrs. Holtsclaw had worked at the Carter County Health Department and was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Tim Holtsclaw, of the home; a son, Tommy Range, Elizabethton; a daughter, Karen Murphy, Elizabethton; a sister, Dorothy Rasnick, Watauga; a brother, James “Sam” Bradshaw and his wife, Jeannette, Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Adrienne Cross, Bristol, Daniel Range and Kellen Murphy, both of Elizabethton; and a special son-in-law, Robby Murphy, Elizabethton. Three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Holtsclaw will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Nathan Jennings and Pastor Jack Lloyd officiating. Music will be provided by Bo and Joanne Campbell. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 22, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Allen Rasnick, Drew Barker, Brad Barker, Mark Hyatt, Terry Barker, Brad Carroll and Daniel Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be E.C. Vines, Brian Breedlove, Daniel Range, Thomas Ledford, Randy Dumas, Jack Ingram, Jerry VanHoy, Susan VanHoy, Richard Tester and Danny Bright. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 10:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to First Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 706 First Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
