Charlene Kane, 75, of Elizabethton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at her residence, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Kane was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Coy Lee Peters and Ammo Peters Shell.
Mrs. Kane was retired from Mapes Piano String Company and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Kane, of the home; a daughter, Paige Rike and husband Robert, Elizabethton; a son, Todd Kane, Elizabethton; one granddaughter, Alexandra “Lexie” Rike, Elizabethton; two sisters, Maxine Haffield, Vero Beach, Fla., and Jan Roberts and husband Michael, Watauga; a sister-in-law, Helen Kane Wilson and husband Jim, Elizabethton; four nieces, Debbie Foster, Vero Beach, Fla., Dr. Sharon Stafford, Boone, N.C., Cynthia Stafford, Elizabethton, and Amy Pinkerman, Elizabethton; three nephews, Shane Roberts, Knoxville, Tenn., Ryan Haffield, Vero Beach, Fla., and Scott Stafford, Houston, Texas; and two special friends, Emma Rose Snodgrass and Billie Woodruff. Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
A memorial service for Mrs. Kane will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday, May 30, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Ray Amos officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. The graveside and inurnment service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Saturday.
