Bill Jaynes

Bill Jaynes, 84, 180 Rosewood Circle, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Newland, N.C., he was a son of the late George and Florence Johnson Jaynes.
Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He had lived a number of years in Elizabethton. He was retired from Sterchi’s and Heilig-Meyers Furniture Company of Johnson City. He was a member of Slagle’s United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Sheila Jones and Willa Sue Jaynes; a brother, George Jaynes; and two sisters, Louise Cooke and Eleanor Jaynes.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Smith Jaynes; two sons, Billy Jaynes Jr. and wife Sheila, Elizabethton, and Brad Jaynes and wife Patsy, Blountville; four granddaughters, Melinda Hill, Billie Carol Vineyard, Trinety Loud and Avery Elizabeth Mabe; three grandsons, Justin Jaynes, Brandon Jaynes and Tyler Jaynes; and seven great-grandchildren, Matthew Sexton, Christian Renshaw, Skyler Vineyard, Hayden Jaynes, Lillie Jaynes, Kylie Jaynes and Addison Loud. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services for Mr. Jaynes will be conducted at noon Monday, June 23, in the Norris Cemetery (Little Milligan Community) with the Rev. Estill Williams officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be friends. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery.
