Kay Keith Shaw

Kay Keith Shaw, 87, of Roan Mountain, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
He was born April 19, 1927 in Campo, Colo., to the late James Marion and Laura Kathryn Gitchell Shaw.
Mr. Shaw served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. During World War II he served in the occupation forces both in Japan and Germany.
Mr. Shaw moved to Carter County in 1963. He retired from the Kingsport Press, as a process cameraman. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as an Elder in the Boone, North Carolina Ward.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Margaret Whitehead Shaw; three daughters, Marga Wilke of Sandy, Utah, Barbara Sexton and husband Charles, Danville, Va., and Karen Boone and husband Jeff, Roan Mountain; three sons, James Robert Shaw and wife Belinda, Sandy, Utah, John Shaw and wife Shannon, Roan Mountain, and Jerome Shaw and Miranda Fox, Burnsville, N.C.; a step-son, Frank David Holland and wife Katie, Knoxville; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Shaw Frazier, Great Bend, Kansas. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services for Mr. Shaw will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 29, in the Captain Nelson Cemetery, Ripshin Mountain, with Bishop Trent Spaulding and Brother Scott Jensen officiating. Interment will follow the service. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion and the Tennessee National Guard. Active pallbearers will be John Shaw, Jeff Boone, Braxton Shaw, Nick Boone, Frank Holland, James Shaw and Jerome Shaw. Family and friends will assemble at the graveside at 3:45 p.m. Sunday.
