Christine A. Yankee

Christine A. Yankee, 43, of Kingsport, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 5, 2014, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a long illness.
She was born in Kingsport, grew up in the Church Hill area and had lived in Kingsport until the time of her death.
Christine was a Medical Laboratory Tech at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. She was saved at an early age; was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister; loved to travel; ride horses; shooting a 22 rifle and being a mother.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Frank and Viola Walls Bussey, and paternal grandparents, Victor and Thelma Francisco Yankee.
Surviving are her loving husband of ten years, John P. Canter; daughter, Olivia K. Canter; parents, Gary and Frankie Bussey Yankee; brother, Gregory (Stephanie) Yankee; nephew, Isaac G. Yankee; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl T. “Red” and Carolyn Grace Boone Canter Jr.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga St., Kingsport. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ken Smith, doctors and nurses at Holston Valley ER and SICU. Memorial contributions may be made to the Junior Diabetes Association.
