Danny Ray Vance, 56, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014, at his residence.
Danny was a native of the Roan Mountain community of Carter County and a son of the late Billy Audy and Vera Lee Julian Vance. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Vance.
Mr. Vance was a graduate of Cloudland High School and retired from Roan Mountain State Park after 30 years of service. As a young boy, he attended Upper Heaton Creek Holiness Church and enjoyed farming and gardening. He also loved his animals, especially his dog, “Jack.”
Survivors include a sister, Kappie Vance and husband Don, Newland, N.C.; a brother, Larry Vance and wife Rosemary, Elizabethton; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Vance, Roan Mountain; and nieces and nephews, Danetta Kellar and husband David, Belmont, N.C., Rebecca Ranucci and husband Vince, Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Roy Vance, Roan Mountain, Zachary Vance and Michael Vance and wife Jennifer, all of Johnson City, and Laura Lemberger, Elizabethton. Several great-nieces, great-nephews and two aunts, Marie Wise, Gaffney, S.C., and Rada Jones, Tarpon Springs, Fla., also survive.
The family will hold a memorial service for Mr. Vance at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Upper Heaton Creek Holiness Church with Rev. Don Julian officiating.
