Jackie Bruce Proffitt

Jackie Bruce Proffitt, 60, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Laughlin Hospital in Greeneville, Tenn.
He was a native of Johnson County. He was preceded in death by his father, Dana Bruce Proffitt, of Butler, Tenn.
Jackie was a member of Butler Baptist Church. He had worked for Summers-Taylor for 26 years.
Jackie is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara Jean Reece Proffitt; his mother, Beulah Greer Proffitt Carr, Elizabethton; his children, Teri Lynn Proffitt and Cori Jean Proffitt Davis and husband Robbie, all of Elizabethton; six grandchildren, Matthew Proffitt, Blaize Davis, Justin Davis, Macey Davis, Gabriel Davis and Zoey Davis; five sisters, Norma Jean Eldreth, Mountain City, Tenn., Linda Kay Hopkins and husband Allen of North Carolina, Jean Lowe, Mountain City, Tenn., Judy Brockwell (his twin sister) and husband Donald, Elizabethton, and Nancy Matherly and husband Harold, Elizabethton; a brother, Jerry Keith Proffitt, Elizabethton; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Beulah and Harold Allen, Lenoir, N.C.; a brother-in-law, James Lee Allen, Lenoir, N.C.; and special aunts, Dorothy Greer, Norfolk, Va., and Lucille Jenkins, Mountain City, Tenn. Several special nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Proffitt will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Willie Campbell officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 13, in the Scalf Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to be at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, will be Ronnie Guinn, Rick Guinn, Chris Reece, Robbie Davis, Matthew Baird, Martin Martinez, Joey Guinn and Timmy Guinn. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Chandler, Harold Matherly, Donnie Brockwell, Homer Shell, Ronnie Little, Michael Murphy, Jimmy Jenkins, Ray Jenkins, John Dugger, Wayne Lunceford, Kevin Potter, Robbie Baird, Dr. Prince, Laughlin Wound Center and ICU, and Summers-Taylor employees. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence.
