Dorothy May Church

Dorothy May Church, 746 Simerly Creek Road, Hampton, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, in the Holston Valley Hospital, Kingsport. A native of Anniston, Ala., she was a daughter of the late A.C. and Delphia Eleanor Dugger Puckett. She had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Church was a member of the Tiger Creek First Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Ann Sims; two sisters: Madge Anderson and Patsy Dugger; and infant twin brothers.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years: Kenneth Church; her children: Tony Church and wife Linda;, Timmy Church and wife Beverly; Debbie Oliver and her friend Bryan Hollifield; Kenneth Church Jr. and wife Tina; and Greg Church, all of Hampton; and Nancy Tate and husband Nathan, Kingsport; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four sisters: Elsie Presnell and husband Harold, Hampton; Faye Presnell, Gray; Helen Lovelace, Dansville, Ga.; and Betty Puckett, Elizabethton; three brothers: Ronald Puckett and Donald Puckett both of Greeneville; and Afton Puckett, Elizabethton; eight nieces and three nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Tiger Creek First Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. John Vance and the Rev. Jim Holslcaw officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014, in the Church Family Cemetery. Active pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the church at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday will be: Tina Church, Beverly Church, Debbie Oliver, Nancy Tate, April Sims, Janice Gentry, Greg Church and Brian Hollifield. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Wixford House, respiratory therapy staff and the staff of Holston Valley Hospital and Dr. Miller. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Friends may also visit with the family at the home of a son and daughter-in-law, Timmy and Beverly Church, 188 Simerly Creek Road, Hampton.
