Clyde Buckles Jr.

Clyde Buckles Jr., 90, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Broadmore Senior Living.
Born in Carter County November 10, 1923, he was a son of the late Idabelle and Clyde S. Buckles.
Mr. Buckles served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Pet Dairy Inc. after approximately 40 years. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Gray, where he served faithfully in the choir and senior ministry. He delivered Meals on Wheels for nearly 20 years.
Mr. Buckles was a part-time farmer and loved the outdoors, working the land and especially fishing and hunting with his boys. He was a great role model for his children, leading by example. He left a legacy of integrity, morality and strong work ethic.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Buckles was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Louise Hackney Buckles, in 2006, and four brothers, Howard, Ray, John Wesley and Jewel.
Survivors include three sons, Phonse Eric and the late wife, Frances, Kingsport, Philip and wife Pamela, Fairborn, Ohio, and Dana Scott and wife Sharon, Charlotte, N.C.; three daughters, Norma Merrin and husband Russ, Waterville, Ohio, Kathy Stamper and husband Kevin, Kingsport, and Melissa Crockett and husband, David, Johnson City; one brother, Charles Worley Danner, Nashville; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be Thursday, July 17, at 3 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 396 Oak Grove Road, Gray, with Rev. Sherrel Nave officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Snyder’s Memorial Gardens. Anyone wishing to leave online condolences may do so at www.snydersmemorialgardens.com
