Bonnie Oliver Sparks, 58, of Carter County, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at her residence
Mrs. Sparks was a daughter of the late James Thomas and Betty Jean Wilson Oliver.
Mrs. Sparks had worked at Mayes Brothers Tools and attended God’s House Full Gospel Church.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Sparks, of the home; four daughters, Betty Ann Cooper and husband Thomas, Penny Marie Hill and husband James, Mary Elizabeth Crawford and husband Keith, all of Elizabethton, and Renee Roberson and husband Tommy, Roan Mountain; three step-children, Fred Sparks Jr., Chilhowie, Va., Mary Sparks, Wytheville, Va., and Norman Sparks and wife Jennifer, Roan Mountain; a sister, Teresa Melton and husband Neal, Kingsport; two brothers, Ricky Oliver, of the Poga Community, and David Oliver and wife Christy, Elizabethton; eight grandchildren; and a special nephew, Chris Oliver, whom she thought of as a son. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Sparks will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, at God’s House Full Gospel Church with Rev. Jerry Davis officiating. Music will be under the direction of Joe and Patsy Trivett and Caleb Gross. The graveside service will follow in the Largent Cemetery in Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be Manuel Simerly, Caleb Gross, Adam Triplett, Doyle Jarrett and Norman Sparks. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Cooper, James Hill, Tommy Roberson, Cecil McNeal and Keith Crawford. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at God’s House Full Gospel Church, or at the residence at anytime. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jerry and Rose Davis and to Welmont Hospice for all the love and care shown to Mrs. Sparks during her illness. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the family to help with expenses.
