Austen Lopez is the recipient of the John C. Bowers Elizabethton Rotary Club Scholarship for the 2014-15 academic year at East Tennessee State University.
The $1,000 awards are given by the organization to promising students from Carter County.
Lopez, a recent graduate of Hampton High School, plans a career in physical therapy.
He is the son of Lynn Lopez and Elias Lopez, both of Elizabethton.
