The American Legion Watauga Post No. 49 and Ladies Auxiliary will meet at the American Legion building, 111 S. Watauga Ave., Elizabethton. The Oxendine Family Reunion will be held in Roan Mountain at the Family Shed. The reunion will begin with those attending going to the cemetery that morning for a service and decoration. Later everyone will meet back at the shed for a covered lunch. For more information, call 474-2313.

The descendants of James Madison and Ann Bailey Byrd and Jefferson and Emmaline Edwards Bailey will have their annual reunion beginning at 1 p.m. at Lower Brummitts Creek Brethren Church near Relief in Mitchell County, N.C. Each family is asked to bring a picnic lunch. A decoration will follow at the family cemetery where the ancestors are buried, and the restored ancestral home will be open for family members and friends.
