An inmate in the Carter County Detention Center is facing additional charges after authorities said he suffered an overdose on contraband drugs at the jail.
Michael Danner, 36, 233 Carl Smith Road, Hampton, was charged with possession or use of dangerous drugs or drug paraphernalia, introduction of contraband to a penal facility and possession of Schedule II drugs.
According to the arrest report, Carter County Sheriff’s Department officers were told that an inmate was overdosing in his cell. Several staff members responded to Danner, and the report said that when asked what he had taken, he responded that he had taken nothing.
A jail nurse spotted a small object wrapped in black tape lying on the bunk, which was given to CCSD Deputy Christopher Reichenbach.
Reichenbach wrote in the report that he unwrapped the object and found five strips of Suboxone.
Danner was transported for medical treatment.
