Highlanders, Bulldogs each win a quarter at jamboree

It was time for a dress rehearsal at J.C. Campbell Stadium on Friday night. When the lights went off, the four teams participating ended with some important game rep action.
Cloudland, Hampton, Unaka and Avery County (N.C.) participated in the annual Carter County jamboree at Hampton on Friday night. In a quarter of varsity action, Cloudland used two touchdowns from Colby Birchfield to win 12-0 over Unaka, while the Cloudland junior varsity fell 6-0 to Avery County’s JV squad.
Hampton tied the Vikings varsity squad 6-6 in their first quarter of play, and then used a pair of Adam McClain touchdown runs to a take a 12-0 win over the Rangers to wrap up the night.
