Appalachian League: Twins clinch spot in playoffs

The Elizabethton Twins had control of the game until the ninth, but in an extra inning the Twins secured a playoff spot with a 9-8 win over the Kingsport Mets.
The Twins, now 37-29, are now guaranteed to play at least two more times next week. The final two days of the regular season will determine whether Elizabethton will be the West Division champion or the runner up.
Kingsport, with a 33-33 record, now has to win both remaining games combined with two Johnson City losses to make the postseason for a second straight season. Along with the Cardinals’ loss Wednesday, the Twins just need a win or a Johnson City loss to secure the division championship and home field.
