Strong start not enough for Lady Cyclones vs. West

The Lady Cyclones got off to an early lead against Morristown West on Tuesday night but they were unable to hang on, dropping the contest 5-2 at Brown-Childress Stadium.

“They are a good team and we knew we were going to have our work cut out for us,” Elizabethton head coach Bill McClay said. “Maybe we caught them a little off guard but we have been playing well these past few games.”

The Cyclones took an early advantage when a missed clearance by the Morristown West goalkeeper allowed midfielder Haley Burleson to punch a shot into the back of the net, giving her team a 1-0 lead with 28:21 left in the first half.
