As the District 1-AA volleyball tournament gets ready to begin on Monday at Treadway Gym at Elizabethton High School, Johnson County head coach Donna Poteet knows that any match in the tournament will be just like it has been all season long — in what has been probably the greatest year for Three Rivers Volleyball since its inception in 2009.

Poteet cited that playing Sullivan South, Sullivan North, Sullivan East and Elizabethton have been tall orders, so much so that she made a bold statement on how good this conference is.

“Those four volleyball teams are elite teams and are extremely tough, and it has been a struggle for us,” Poteet said. “There is a lot of good volleyball in this conference. I feel we have the toughest conference in the state.”
