History was made by the Elizabethton Lady Cyclones on Tuesday night, but the Sullivan South Lady Rebels were still able to keep their hopes of defending their state title alive.
Elizabethton won its first-ever set against Sullivan South going back to the Big Nine days, but the Lady Rebels had too much firepower toward the end of the fourth set and survived in a 25-15, 22-25, 25-13, 25-23 defeat of a refuse-to-say-die Elizabethton team at Treadway Gym.
The Lady Cyclones end their season at 20-14, but not before probably playing their best match of the season.
